Welcome to Blount County, the proud home to almost 60,000 residents. With leading school systems, the state’s most advanced career tech school, and Wallace State campus, the county is poised to continue generating Alabama’s premier workforce. Blount County is located in North Central Alabama and within commuting distance of both Birmingham and Huntsville. Blount County is a prime location for a wide variety of industries that will further benefit from construction of the Northern Beltline.
Blount County is also home of the Locust Fork River which provides a fun outing for kayaking and boating enthusiasts of any skill level. Palisades Park offers 100 acres and a half mile of 70-foot cliffs and boulders, it is among one of the best rock-climbing opportunities in the Southeast, and also hosts hiking trails, two playgrounds, three event cabins, six pavilions, free Wi-Fi, and the state’s tallest fire tower. Blount County maintains three historic covered bridges with breathtaking views of rivers, cliffs, and geological features formed over millions of years. Rickwood Caverns State Park features an immense cave filled with formations, primitive and RV camping, and a host of family attractions.
The mission of the Blount County Sheriff’s Office is to work collaboratively with the community to prevent crime and disorder, solve related problems, reduce fear of crime and enforce the laws according to the U.S. Constitution and State of Alabama in order to provide a safe and secure environment for all citizens of this great county.
